Dr David Wang is a Clinical Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Sleep Medicine. He is also a Senior Scientific Officer in Woolcock Institute of Medical Research and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He was awarded a NHMRC Health Professional Research Fellowship commencing in 2009. His area of interest is the links between pharmacological respiratory depressants and sleep-disordered breathing.Dr Wang is a medical graduate from China and completed his Masters in insomnia research (RMIT, Health Science) and PhD in clinical sleep medicine (Melbourne University). Dr Wang has spent more than 10 years, conducted a series of studies in elucidating the relationship of opioid and sleep-disordered breathing and the underlying mechanisms in ventilatory chemoreflexes. He set up two ventilatory response laboratories and one clinical PSG laboratory. As chief or associate investigator, he actively involved with a range of research projects at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research, including many international collaborated projects.
